We are in a season of lament. As we struggle to cope with all the problems the coronavirus has brought, we need a way to ease our suffering. In this episode James Bryan Smith explains how we can use the Psalms to help us deal with our pain.
Smith explains how the Psalms provide us a way to explain to God how we are feeling. There are three main types of Psalms, Grace, Thanksgiving, and Lament. The Psalms of lament share a common structure and pattern, they move from the negative to the positive. When we pray these Psalms of lament we remind ourselves that God is with us in our suffering and He is there for us.

Excellent Podast!
I was blessed by your words about he psalms of lament this morning while running. I love your podcast. This particular episode reminded me of my friend, Donnie Hinshaw’s, first podcast episode, “Exercise + Lament”. Donnie, a Friends pastor in the Denver area, walks his listeners through the practice of lament. Really good! https://open.spotify.com/episode/45viqdYhG7YjWCNSYYst5E?si=Uv6ciF9UQU-ENfoIQz-GFQ
