James Bryan Smith has a Things Above conversation with author Sarah Clarkson. In this episode, James and Sarah discuss her book “This Beautiful Truth.” In This Beautiful Truth, Sarah shares her own encounters with beauty in the midst of her decade-long struggle with mental illness, depression, and doubt. She paints a compelling picture of the God who reaches out to us in a real and powerful way through the “taste and see” goodness of what he has made and what he continues to create amid our darkness.

I SOOOOO appreciate this podcast. I am a mother of two young children and when I do household chores I listen to this podcast. I am so often reminded to draw my thoughts towards Christ and his love for me through these conversations and interviews. I absolutely love this podcast. This most recent podcast interview with Sarah Clarkson; took my attention right off the bat when I found out she struggled with OCD. I have anxiety and OCD and have often felt so alone and shamed and scared with it and I wonder how to see Christ through it all. The church does not talk about mental illness or anxiety and much of the time you are left to struggle alone and feel hopeless and afraid that this will be your lot in life. I really appreciate Sarah’s vulnerability to share about her OCD and how she sees Christ through it all. I will definitely be getting her new book. Thank you Mr. Smith for the work you are doing to bring God’s beauty and truth to the world. Blessings!
